We are making a temporary adjustment to our eligibility criteria to provide flexibility due to COVID-19-related research disruptions. Additionally, like last year, we will be running the competition on an earlier timeline. Below please find adjusted eligibility criteria and key dates for conducting your internal submission competition and the nominee application process. Eligibility criteria adjustment
• Historically, applicants must be in the first three years of their assistant professor position to apply.
- Due to COVID-19-related research disruptions, we are adding an additional year of eligibility so that individuals in the first four years of their assistant professor position are eligible to apply.
• For the upcoming 2022 grant cycle, the application opens on June 14, 2021, and individuals must not have been appointed as an assistant professor at any institution prior to June 14, 2017, whether or not such an appointment was on a tenure track. Exceptions are outlined on our program website.
• Eligibility adjustments will apply to three award cycles (2022, 2023, 2024). For the 2023 and 2024 competitions, the exact cutoff dates will be determined in the future.
Key dates
• Early April: Institutional invitation distributed and nomination solicited
• Monday, May 17: Institutional nomination due
• Monday, June 14: Pew-Stewart Scholars application portal opens
• Thursday, September 9: Pew-Stewart Scholars application due
