Please see the attached announcement for a limited submission opportunity for the Brain Research Foundation (BRF) Fay/Frank Seed Grant Program. The objective of the BRF Fay/Frank Seed Grant Program is to support new and innovative projects, especially those of junior faculty, who are working in new research directions. BRF Seed Grant awards are not intended to supplement existing grants. Each total grant is limited to $80,000 (direct costs) for a two year grant period. Funding is to be directed at pilot research projects that are both innovative and will likely lead to successful grant applications to NIH and other public and private funding entities. To be eligible, PI must be a full-time Assistant or Associate Professor at an invited US academic institution, working in the area of studies of brain function. This includes molecular and clinical neuroscience as well as studies of neural, sensory, motor, cognitive, behavioral and emotional functioning in health and disease. Please read the guidelines regarding the type of project that will be funded for Assistant vs Associate level Professors.
If you are interested in applying for this opportunity please submit a one page research summary of your proposed project and an NIH biosketch by Monday, December 17th by 5pm to mshriver@som.umaryland.edu. More information regarding this opportunity, including FAQs, can be found at http://www.thebrf.org/for-researchers/fayfrank-seed-grant-program/. Applications will be reviewed by an internal committee and one application will be selected to apply on behalf of UMB. A letter of intent will be due to BRF by January 8th 2019. Please let me know if you have any questions. Have a great day, Marey
