ASGE Innovation Award
The American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) is seeking applications for its 2023 ASGE Innovation Award. Designed by the ASGE Inventions and Innovations Special Interest Group, this award will support invention concepts that could advance the practice of gastroenterology and patient care. This award will promote the development of a practical innovative mindset among gastroenterologists. Proposals from individuals or small independent groups will be prioritized. A $10,000 and $5,000 award will be given to two applicants for the development of concept prototypes. Given the unpredictable nature of innovation, the only requirement to participate will be that innovation is related to the field of gastroenterology, demonstrates novel thinking, and has potential to improve clinical outcome. ASGE Research Grant
ASGE Research grants are offered to investigators (MD, DO, PhD, or equivalent) for projects in basic, translational and clinical research with a relationship to gastrointestinal endoscopy. The ASGE is particularly interested in research pertaining to (in no particular order): colorectal cancer screening, Barrett's esophagus, endoscopy training, health disparities, quality measurement and improvement, endoscope reprocessing and infection control, endoscopic sedation/anesthesia, bowel preparation, novel endoscopic treatments for obesity, endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), and other endoscopically-guided imaging/interventions. The research committee will consider funding pilot projects if there is an explicit outline for subsequent projects, and their funding plan (e.g. NIH, VA Merit), based on the preliminary data generated by the proposed pilot. ACG/ASGE Epidemiologic Research Grant in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy
This Research grant provides support for projects involving studies on the use and outcomes of gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy using the GI Quality Improvement Consortium (GIQuIC). This grant is co-sponsored by the ACG and ASGE and should have the potential to impact the quality and outcomes of GI endoscopy. Learn more about the Epidemiologic Research Award.
ASGE Diversity and Inclusion Research Grant
The ASGE Diversity and Inclusion Research grant is founded on one of the guiding principles of the ASGE to support minority health and eliminate health care disparities in the field of Gastroenterology. This grant will support studies focusing on minority health and healthcare disparities in populations with GI-focused diseases. Research that has the potential for influencing and impacting change will be prioritized. The research should focus on a systematic process of identifying the clinical issue, the intervention to address the issue, and measuring the post-intervention outcomes to demonstrate how the project may impact clinical practice. ASGE Endoscopic Training Award
The ASGE Endoscopic Training Award provides Advanced Fellows or Junior Faculty with the opportunity to train outside of their home country with a premier GI endoscopist or group to advance their training. The award assists in underwriting reasonable and customary travel and living expenses for a period of one to three months. The award includes a $5,000 cash stipend prior to the recipient's travel. ASGE Honorary Awards
Each year ASGE recognizes and presents awards to members who have contributed to the body of knowledge in our profession, to the betterment of our organization and to society as a whole. ASGE Diversity Awards
Since 2007, this award recognizes research focused on gastrointestinal diseases in underserved/underrepresented populations. Two $1,000 awards are given to the first authors for abstracts/research relevant to underrepresented populations (i.e., women, racial/ethnic minorities, LGBTQ community). The Diversity Awards are not based on the submitters' gender or ethnicity. Learn more.
