Brief Description

Every year, the Oncology Nursing Society recognizes and celebrates the outstanding contributions nurses make in the field of oncology through excellence in patient-centered treatment, research, and cancer care. As times change, so too does nursing practice. Nurses constantly adapt and evolve to provide the best possible care for their patients, and ONS must evolve to meet their needs—every step of the way.

To meet the changing needs of ONS members, the Board of Directors elected to make refinements to the ONS awards program. As part of these efforts, some awards have been renamed, some changed, and some retired. Although certain awards will no longer be offered, the spirit and outstanding accomplishments associated with them will remain. Regardless of these changes, the honors bestowed on recipients—past and present—signify the hallmark values of ONS and the oncology nursing community: innovation, advocacy, and excellence.
